Are you Invincible?

I was surfing the news stories yesterday and I stumbled across an article on the Washingtonpost.com. Its a story that many have fascinated about probably since man started walking on this planet. That is one of immortality. Living to be 1000 years old.

Well I have been around now for just 56 years, not even a blink of eye in cosmic time or a millisecond. And yes I am in some ways feeling the age in my bones. I am not as chipper as I once was, nor do I have the burning desire to conquer Mount Everest. But my brain is young. Yes, yes I know its aging too, but in a positive way. Its filled with way more knowledge than my body that supports it.

I have always said I was born too young. Meaning I am in the wrong time. My life is surrounded with some the latest and greatest technology that man has achieved in the past 100 years, and its a million years (that’s man talk) away from where my brain resides. Of course my imagination is far out there as well.

So why not? Why not live to be 1000 or 10,000 - Age is just a number that someone tagged on to us as a way of putting meaning to life. Are bodies are machines. Yes we are made up of biochemical's. We don’t have to have a suit of armor around us, or structures made of steel, although there are times it would be handy to have the strength of a elephant. But we are human after all. We are what we are, but we can be more. To me its a simple state of mind. As long as you continue to believe that we will stay in one place as a race and that we shall never evolve, you wont!

But I will let you be the judge of that. Read the article and you decide! Are you ready to live for 1000 years? Click here to read the story of the The Invincible Man, Aubrey de Grey, 44 Going on 1,000, Wants Out of Old Age.

Albert Einstein

The fairest thing we can experience is the mysterious.

It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and science.

He who knows it not and can no longer wonder, no longer feels amazement, is as good as dead, a snuffed-out candle.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift; that's why they call it the present!
