Anyway I removed the plugin software and this resolved the immediate issue. During the process of trying to resolve the plugin problems I looked at several other themes trying to sort out things. It was during this process I decided to drop K2 for now because I can’t use it’s features fully. I did however, find a theme that I could use on both sides of my site.
The theme is Mandigo. With some clever dumping from PHP (this is the software WordPress is written) I was able to clone the CSS and modify it for the primary site. Now both the static main site and the blog are actually using the identical CSS theme. I thought it was cool. I still have to figure out an easy way for people to know on what side they are on without looking at the Browser title.
I have been doing a lot of play with different Wiki software and O/S’s this week. I found an interesting Wiki that resides within what I call a boxed version of Linux hosted within a VMsession. It is called MindTouch Deki. You need VMplayer to make it work, but it is rather novel in design and works quit good. You are limited to 5 users in the free version. On this note, I am in the process of writing one of the first articles to post to the blog under the new Articles section. It will be called “Virtulization - The New Frontier” where I will discuss a host of new features for Windows, Linux and OSx for us Mac lovers. So stay tuned!
In other news this week, Canonical, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, headquartered in Europe released Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn and the new 7.04 server versions. I installed the server version without a hitch and it found my Vista installation with no problem. Was able to dual boot right out of the gate using the installed GRUB boot loader. Same for Feisty Fawn the Desktop version. I hope to have VMware installed soon so I can continue my VM testing.
Now I am off to make to some photos for Life Hackers Coolest Workspace Contest. I spent a lot of time designing my workspace as I spend a lot of time here. Look for some photos here soon!
