geeky-section
For the past several weeks we have been reviewing the site looking for areas for improvement. Needless to say we found a lot! So once again from the bottom up we focused on ways to enhance and fix some nagging problems.

Now keep in mind this is beyond the fact that we decided to jump on the 960 format as portrayed in various ways as now advertised. I wont bore you with more about this as I think we have it covered!

Here is a short list of improvements we have completed;

  • Revamped our logo - We put it through the ringer and came up with a bunch of new designs and you can see from our pick. We went back to are classic red design with a touch of orange. I personally think it turned out pretty nice.
  • Revamped our favorite icon - this is the tiny icon that resides in the address bar. Time to bring it up to date with the new logo.
  • Stripped out all unused or should I say miss-used modules and plug-ins that either did not work correctly or were past attempts at functionality. This was after we did an extensive look at the number of 404 errors and the logs for broken links. By the way if you click on a link or menu item and it does not take you where you thought you were going, please please drop us a note. We have done our best at trying to fix these but after a while they tend to elude us.
  • Added some classy icons to some of our content where appropriate.
  • We updated some of the content and fixed some grammar mistakes in some of the articles. Again if you see something a miss please let us know. My eyes are getting really tired now. Laughing
  • Revised the Geeky Artist Twitter feed.
  • Added the list of services for LABS - We have been trying to decide just what services we wanted to offer. So I sat down with the developers and our design staff and knocked out the short list. Now we have a basic foundation for what we are willing to offer up our time.

Now what is not done!

  • The Xanluna! On-line Store is still lacking. We thought we had a simple solution but decided it was not going to work. So we put a hold on the subject for now and will come back to it later when all of our brains have had a chance to rest.

Whats new!

  • Revised most of the plug-ins with the latest updates. This includes the Rokdownload section. And based on the number of downloads for our free ebook section it appears to be a hit.
  • Added enhanced search functions and built-in Google search.
  • Revised the the popup box plug-in. This is getting ready for HTML5 as we anticipate flash will go away soon.

Well thats it for now. I think it is time for a cold beer!
